why american's are not replacing themselves

Now that I have a baby I can understand why so few mothers choose to nurse the full year, when you go out there are so few places that have a couch or even a chair. Even nice places or places where there are a lot of children, for example the public library, don't have facilities. It's a problem especially for those of us with babies who have issues with the bottle. I would be so tempted to nurse on a bench outside if it wasn't so darn cold.

Everyone love babies and yet, I am surprised how many places are not baby friendly. For example, my baby isn't fussy but I still couldn't bring him to a movie or a book club. Even a lot of woman's groups, most annoyingly, the one at my church don't have child care and babies are not welcome. Why? Not all babies are loud. It annoys me.

Other than that everything is great with us. I'm enjoying myself immensely! Thomas is getting bigger, smarter, and more smiley everyday and it's a lot of fun to watch.

Melonoma

I just found out today that my former co-worker died of melanoma. Were were not close, but I still feel so bad. She was a good person and I enjoyed working with her. She recently had a baby which makes me even more sympathetic. I know what it's like to lose someone you care about way too young. I wish should could have stayed around for her son and husband. . . .

Good news!

We had our baby last Tuesday February 26 at 12pm! He was 6lb 9oz, Tim's weight at birth, had an Apger score of 9, a full head of dark hair and is so far a sweet cuddly disposition. Thank God! Labor really wasn't bad and I already feel better and more energetic than I felt during my pregnancy. I didn't know it was possible to feel so attached to someone!

Still Pregnant

I don't have a lot to say. I'm 34 weeks pregnant which is really quite far along, three weeks away from being full term. The baby is getting big. I can feel him kick me in the ribs and keeps me up at night with his constant movement.! Other than that I am getting quite large and uncomfortable. I've only gained 19lb, which is low, but it's hard to get comfotable with the big belly. In any case I am getting really very excited about having a baby soon! I can't wait to meet him! We have almost all the stuff on the list of things I should have before he is born and he has better stuff than we do. His sleepers look really comforable. Why don't they have those for grown ups?

I'm in the third trimester now which is super exciting and I can feel our baby move constantly. He startles with loud noises and responds to music.
With all the advances in medical techology why couldn't they come up with something less gross?

I took my 2nd gestational diabetes test. It kind of sucked. I had to fast for 14 hours, drink a warn drink that tasted like limes gone bad, and then have my blood taken four times over the course of three hours. Between taking my blood I laid down and swallowed back my vomit.

I get the test results tomorrow. There are far worse things than having a very mild case of gestational diabetes. If it's well controlled (and I am OCD enough to keep it in control) I am as statistically likely as any 27 year old without it of having a healthy baby.

The messed up thing is after 18 hours without food I still wasn't hungry. I make myself eat, but aren't you supposed to get hungry when you're pregnant?

How I almost got put on bed rest

Yesterday I had my appointment as well as my diabetes test. Let me just say the stuff they make you swallow for the test tastes like melted Popsicle off the sidewalk. So when they took my blood pressure I was trying very hard not to throw up, I was vomiting a little in my mouth, and as a result I was 130/101 which is quite clearly a jump from last visit. My doctor was concerned I might have preeclampsia, but swelling is a symptom and I had not gained any weight since my last appointment (I thought I was eating enough but I guess I need to eat more) and had no other symptoms so at the end of the visit she took it again at 118/79. The moral of the story, don't take people's blood pressure after that horrible, horrible drink.

So I was at the Y yesteterday, speed walking on a machine and reading a book where the guy next to me asks me about my work out and starts giving me advice on how to loose weight and especially around my tummy. Ummm, I'm more than 6 months pregnant, I think weight loss and sit ups are out of the question at this point. My doctor told me my uterus is bigger than a soccar ball. I wasn't wearing loose clothing. Total strangers often ask me when I'm due.
